Rich people are more likely to steal from self-checkout. Why?

Wealthy people with household incomes over $100K were most likely to admit to stealing from self-checkouts. I asked an expert therapist why that is.

I did assets protection for target from 2000 to 2004 and a huge portion of my shoplifters were middle age white women that typically had the money to pay for the stuff they stole. Next on the list was kids and I worked in stores in some pretty rough neighborhoods. It’s been a while so I think behaviors have changed a bit but bored housewives were always my biggest problem.

A lot of them stole so often they even knew the dollar amount to keep it a misdemeanor. In Massachusetts at the time 250 or higher was a felony.
