I can't stop thinking about it. Is the Adam's apple and the leg hair really that important that it has to be drawn?

Kinda, yeah.

That last panel might as well have been me the first time I tried on a pair of breastforms.

I thought of it as a way to indicate the beginning of a journey. It also makes the continuity of the comic more explicit, indicating "yes, that is the same person".

yeah it kinda feels like a cis persons idea of what a trans woman is. I know we're not all the same, but one of the first things I did to feminize myself was shave my legs (shortly followed by a bunch of other places), and I wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt like that without a shave at least.

I actually read it as the same person, like IMMEDIATELY going and trying on some clothes, and figuring things out. Didn't even notice the hair and the boobs until reading this, and looking again.

I have been shaving my legs I was like idk very young and the image kind of sums up how it looks for the first time. Shit. Without friends, skill, and yet motivation to invest it looks meh with a cheap wig and not matching clothes. The leg hair seems like an easy way to somehow show the obvious lack of skill at the beginning.
