Microsoft's fucked around with their users to a considerable degree that 10% happened this soon.

I don't think there will a "year" of the Linux desktop. The climb to take over will take more than a year. A "Decade of the Linux Desktop" seems more apt and I think this is it. 2020-2030 will be this change. SteamOS and Proton has bridged the Gaming gap and entry level for average users so well and it's only going to get better.
