Having a sexuality is normal. Joking about it in public is normal. Having a sexuality does not make you less moral. Having a sexuality is not in conflict with holding radical political values. Being heterosexual is not a sign of immorality. Joking in a stressful and grave situation is not immoral. Being sad and serious 24/7 doesn't alleviate the consequences of a genocide. The puritanical values of the New York middle class are not universal despite the immense cultural power of the American empire.

If this guy sexually assaulted somebody, we can talk about it. But focusing on the evidence or testimonies, not on whatever this story means to you.

No comedy police here, if this is your idea of a joke you might not have a serious girlfriend any time soon if that’s your goal… If it’s serious then I’d rather not bother getting into the deets of what is right and wrong, it’s just proven thru reactions of gross dudes like this. Yall will trust literal rapists like channel 5 Andrew Callahan and then go and defend dudes like this for making sexist comments on a freedom boat? How come I have to focus on the apartheid and not Jacob who clearly is focused on getting his rocks off in this post? It does just spell gross to me idk yall are pretty wild in defending this tbh. I have a partner who happens to be American and hates the Puritanism back home that wants everybody to erase their desires. In the rest of the world, sexual desire is normal, even when you're doing something serious with your life. And in the end, this guy's request for nudes probably has nothing to do with sex, but with validation and proximity, but the idea that talks about sex are never about actual sex is probably inconceivable in this conversation.

By the way I'm not defending the guy. I'm attacking the pearl-clutching moralists who demand inhumane behavior from humans. The guy looks a bit like a loser for doing so, but there's a difference between being light and being harmful.

Most of my friends are women and it might surprise you, but I'm politically active in (sex-positive) feminist collectives. You really believe the whole world is like Brooklyn and that's your problem.

Bragging about your “feminist circles” online to make a point on a post about a man objectifying women that you’re defending is a strange choice. You should pay attention in those meetings more instead of oggling the women, maybe you’ll actually learn something.

There is a very strange western liberal tendency to draw the line in patriarchal structures at women’s sexual liberation. Sexual freedom and liberation is important but it’s not the end of your duty as a man (or even as a woman) in a patriarchal society.

I’m not gonna pretend I know what that Brooklyn comment means other than, shot in the dark, there’s a lot of rape that happens in big cities so people in general are more likely to be sexually repressed? And you think that’s a good argument against my point, that where rape culture is more prevalent they’re more, how you put it, puritan?

Please, if you can, bring up this guy & his post in your feminist circles if you’re gonna use them to make a point on the internet and let me know what they think about your take on this Berger guy’s post. Seriously I would be interested.
