Red light treatment for growth

3 days ago by NerdyNeko90 to c/womensstuff

Has anyone here tried red light treatment for hair growth? Did it actually work? Do you use a comb or one of those sci-fi looking helmets?

I’m considering it, my dermatologist suggested it as an option. The units are just so expensive.

So I read this as removal not growth and did a whole post on my Philips Lumea.

Did you mean red light therapy? Thats not a laser.

If that’s a yes, I’d recommend finding a place you can try it before buying. The panels are expensive.

I use mine for muscle inflammation. It took about 10 weeks to start to feel a difference (healing an old injury that will never be “normal”).

I’ve heard RLT being used for skin aging. I don’t know if it’s making a difference on that front. If it is, it’s probably just slowing my wrinkles.

I’m not sure the science on using RLT for hair growth is strong. All the peer reviewed papers are for skin care and muscle inflammation.

I’m surprised a derm wouldn’t give you an rx for minoxidil. Probably cheaper and proven to work.

Yeah I’m on minoxidil. She just suggested red light as another option I could look into.

Corrected my post!

It certainly won’t hurt your situation. Just know it takes a very long time to see any results and you need to be consistent with it. So if you go on vacation and can’t keep up with the sessions, it’s basically like starting over. You can do it every day, but no less than 3x a week.

I bought a body length Hooga panel, not any of the masks. I know Amazon and Temu have cheap knock offs. Whatever you buy, make sure the red light operates 630-680 nm and the infrared operates 810-850nm. Infrared targets the deep muscles, so you could probably find a device that’s just red light. No clue if anything like that exists or if it’s cheaper.

Edit: I found this https://my.clevelandclinic.org/...

My hair dresser swore by finasteride, but if you have a penis and like to use it that's gonnaa probably be a hard no. Trans friend who did not care about using hers was ecstatic with the results on her mpb

My dermatologist said it could be a backup option. My hair loss is temporary and from a few mental health episodes last year. So I’m hoping that minoxidil helps with the recovery process.

I just had the realization that I could have even better hair then before, if I made the effort.
