Gotta say, I agree with everything you've said here. 🤙🏼 The Index is the best damn set for the money, though the Vive isn't too bad itself. (Console attempts at the tech are mediocre in the predictable, on-brand ways.)

I'll give Contractors a shot if you swear to check out a Wabbajack modlist for Skyrim. They're absolutely game changers (no pun intended), and what was for me a few hundred hours put into a shining classic of a game already became several in the first year of owning an Index. Be sure to dip into the astoundingly well-crafted DLC-like mods that expand the games horizons in glorious fashion: Bruma (come onnn, "Beyond Skyrim", let's go!), Moonpath to Elsweyr, Wyrmstooth, Glenmoril, Vigilant, Enderal, Maslea, The Haven, Falskaar, Darkend, Haafstad, Vominheim, The Shire, etc., etc. 🤩🤘🏼 Don't forget to come back up for air, from time to time. Oh, and if you've not explored it yet, be sure to trick out Blackreach with QoL mods before you go. Vanilla is already pretty damn stunning, but lightly modded, it's unlike anything else in the verse.
