Of the games that I’ve loved recently there’s a few on PC that I’d recommend.

Tunic - Great little game that looks like a Zelda clone on the surface but is much deeper than that and seems more closer to Hades and Souls games.
Final Fantasy VII Remake - There are parts of the story that may be controversial to some, but I absolutely loved it.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - Not a recently played, but it’s sequel. However I do recommend the first as it’s on PC. I really love the story and world in this series.
Nier: Automata - An incredible game that has an amazing storyline, even though it does get a bit crazy, and has some smooth combat mechanics.
Stray - It’s short but it’s a wonderful game where you’re a cat in a world seemingly run by robots. Gameplay is basic but I’d definitely recommend it.

Here’s a few series that I’d recommend as well.

Bioshock - Great FPS series of games with some good stories and really solid gameplay that’s lasted.
Dishonoured - Much like Bioshock above.
Resident Evil - The new series and the REmakes are absolutely solid and fantastic games. Plenty of story and plenty of interesting gameplay.
Final Fantasy - This is my bias, but if you’re wanting to dedicate a lot of time to story, then these are my recommended go to. Each is different and stands alone so you can start anywhere.
