Lemmy.world and piefed.social are two different instances (servers) run by different people. They also run different software (Lemmy and Piefed respectively) which speaks the same protocol and can talk to each other (and other instances as well).

If you look at the same community e.g. !fediverse@lemmy.world under each instance the content should be the same: the protocol should ensure that. The interface, the way it is presented to you, might be different, mostly decided by the software (Lemmy or Piefed, or any reader client you use).

It is also possible some posts or replies made it to one instance but not the other, perhaps due to technical problems, or policy (one instance’s admin might decide to not federate with another), but you should not encounter it very often (but it certainly happens).

People choose one instance over another for different reasons. Perhaps they like one software’s interface better than another. Perhaps they feel one server is faster and more responsive than another. Perhaps they would like to subscribe to a community which is blocked by certain instances. Fortunately there is nothing to stop somebody from signing up at multiple instances, so one can just try each out and find out which one is suitable for them.

Perhaps I'm asking for too much, I can tell they spent a lot of animation budget on this episode, but the dragon still feels like a robot than a real animal.

Milim in serious mode reminded me that she is more complex than her usual child-like personality.

Yes, Season 4 was announced to have 5 cours, the first is currently airing and the second will run from July to September. After that is unknown but there will probably be a break before / breaks between cours 3, 4 & 5.

I went to PCPartPicker and tried to assemble a similarly spec'd PC, not with the absolute cheapest components, but definitely from the lower end sorted by price, it came out close to $800.

I guess if Valve can price it at that and be smaller it might have a market, but if much more than that people are better off just buying a PC.

P.S. Since Valve is not buying retail I think there is room for lower than that, and it'd definitely be welcome, but I'm not sure Valve will make that decision.

I wonder if economics has anything to do with this trend worldwide. When people have to worry about their next meal every day they tend to get frustrated and finding something or someone to blame, rightly or wrongly,is a way to vent that frustration.

With more and more wealth concentrating at the top 1% it stands to reason that the population that feels frustrated is increasing quickly.

The explanation from this article made more sense to me: Sam Altman’s Dirty DRAM Deal, than DRAM manufacturers colluding to decommoditize PC computing.

That is not to say they did not willingly take advantage of the situation, they definitely did.

I also agree with GN that micron taking public money and then doing something against the public interest is a bad thing.

Steve does complain a lot lately but I am trying not to blame the messenger for the bad news. The whole PC and gaming industry is in a bad place right now.

US needs DRAM more than DRAM manufacturers need the US market. Plus, no way Trump’s AI buddies who is buying up the DRAM supply will agree to pay the tariffs.

“We won’t be able to rebuild the party if I don’t get everyone’s help, from all generations,” she added. “I will scrap my work-life balance and work and work and work and work.”

“scrap work-life balance” doesn't sound like a correct thing to say for a leader even if referring to oneself.

Why was there no mention from Steam that they have belatedly sent out the emails? Were the people who wishlisted the game still not notified? This is no way to fix a issue.

I read on Japanese news the author claimed Alphapolis changed the rules after the fact, which is true (the rules against AI were added after the submission deadline of the contest), but I don’t feel that justified submitting something predominantly written by AI as one’s own work.

The Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act, which Trump signed into law on Tuesday, says the U.S. State Department should carry out reviews of contacts with Taiwan no less than once every five years.

Excuse my reading comprehension, but aren't these reviews a thing that can go in both positive and negative ways? Is Taiwan celebrating just because, "Hey, the US officially mentioned us!"?
