Allow me to read the article for you:

As smaller and better organised brains were able to perform more complex computations, metabolically expensive larger brains simply became unnecessary

Tattersall believes that the catalyst that caused this change in thinking style was the spontaneous invention of language. This led to the neural pathways of the brain being reorganised in a more metabolically efficient way, allowing humans to get more "bang for their buck".

In other words, as smaller and better organised brains were able to perform more complex computations, metabolically expensive larger brains simply became unnecessary.

How does one qualify for a job in that particular field? It sounds like an interesting intersection of tangible creation, service, and medical knowledge.

I've read that women's skin is elastic along two axes while men's skin is elastic along only one axis. Is true, or variable across a spectrum, or simply false?

Or we could just pass a law mandating that they have to approve any request made by a doctor unless they can show clear evidence of fraud.

This will probably cause a collapse of most of the health insurance industry, which shouldn't exist in its current form anyway.

"Cheese-eating surrender monkeys" long predates the Iraq war. It comes from their surrender in WWII. Yes, the jokes ignore their resistance movement and the fact that they basically lost an entire generation of young men to WWI. It also ignores that Britain failed to help France.

I have never in my life heard of Italians being stereotypical cowards.

Trump is going to run our armament and petroleum supply so low that Russia and China can Red Dawn us... This time, we won't have Patrick Swayze to save us.

A repost is something that's been submitted to the site before. It has nothing to do with whether or not it's original content created by the user. Reddit was originally a social bookmarking site, intended for sharing and discussing content hosted elsewhere.

If anyone ever landed on earth they would be dissected alive and their technology stolen.

If anyone had the technology to travel the vast distances between potentially inhabitable locations in space, they would appear godlike to us. It would be like ants going to war against a herd of elephants, who happen to also be wizards.

Get out of the house. Pick up new hobbies and meet new people. I don't know how old you are, but you sound young. Now is the chance to build the future you, with a wide variety of interest and experiences, and strong friendships. You won't get any of these from passive consumption of media.

Those are completely separate things. American right wingers were pouring out wine and throwing cheese away as a "fuck you" to the French who dared not support GWB. These were the days when I regularly read "if you don't support our President, you're not a real American."

It had nothing to do with France's history. If Germany refused to back us, right wingers would have been selling or crushing their BMWs and Mercedes in a performative fashion.

This is just how the right wing behaves. If they don't get what they want, they demonize whoever didn't support them. It's the same way that Trump runs everything: like a petulant mob boss.

Things like the 40 year old computer monitors have a negative value, unless they're something special like a 21" Trinitron or an IBM T220/221.

Unless the furniture and furnishings are of a sought-after style (e.g. Art Deco), they're basically worthless.

I sold most of my belongings back in 2009. Furniture and beds had basically zero value. A solid wood table retained decent value. Electronics were worthless unless they were vintage collectable (e.g. Rotel amplifier). eBay was the best place to sell things because people are committed. Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace are a huge time-suck because you get so many flakes, low-ballers, and tire-kickers.

From what I've seen, it's CRT televisions that are sought after by vintage gamers, not out-of-date computer monitors. There were so many truly awful CRT computer monitors out there before LCDs came around. I'm aware that there were plenty of cheap, low-quality LCDs, too, I just want to drive home the point about all the awful, .41 dot-pitch, flickering SVGA monitors with inconsistent, blotchy color that roamed the earth in the before times (i.e. the 90s).

Americans saw the French as surrending cowards due to WWII, long before the while Iraq thing. I have no idea why there are two people in these comments pushing this claim that it's due to the Iraq war.

The jokes were always ignorant, but they've been around since WWII.

I strongly recommend that you focus on maximizing time doing anything and everything real and tangible, preferably with other people. It's really easy for games and social media to mess with your brain's reward system, leading up worse personal outcomes.

I fully recognize the irony of me writing this to you online, btw. In my defense, I'm meeting with friends in two hours and going to do yard work right now. ;-)
