This pisses me off as well, but it is essential to get it working in Android Auto. They purposefully block "maps"-type apps from showing no matter what I do via ADB (spoofing the "Installed from Google Play" requirement, for example). Best I can do is login to a throwaway account on Play, download OsmAnd (or similar), and disable networking (GrapheneOS) again for the "Play Services" app.

"Ownership" should not imply the DRM you purchased it through can revoke said "ownership" whenever it becomes convenient. If you still have to ask permission to play something you "own", I don't call that ownership.

Will this be FOSS? To be honest, I'd be interested, but not while the project being closed-source. As someone else mentioned, providing a public Git repository (such as GitLab or CodeBerg) and getting this onto F-Droid would be a great start.
