D or G

D gets you most of Middle Eastern, all of India, most of China, all of South Asia, most of Australia, most of Japan. Huge variety, extremely high number of options, lots of spice availability, lots of meat and nonmeat protein options.

G mostly because of Mexico alone. I've traveled there a bunch recently and the food game is insane. You also get the US South (which does have a lot of great food outside of deep fried everything), Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

C gets an honorable mention mostly because of southeast Europe. That whole area has been a crossroads for a very long time.

The actual website is https://icelist.is/

The leak is supposedly at https://wiki.icelist.is/

The site has been hammered and either times out or gives a 403 response, which lately is accompanied by a disclaimer message which essentially says "Hosted content does not represent our company".

It is possible the site owners shut it all down because of the massive increase in traffic. The disclaimer message that popped up is weird. I haven't seen any dumps show up anywhere I'm aware of.

I can't wait for the DNC to pull a 2016 and tank her campaign for someone more "moderate"

My wife said this tonight and it really hit me: China will be eating burgers and America will be eating soy

I know this is probably a repost but the self-censorship is super annoying and has entered the lexicon in ways that can permanently damage human communication as a whole.

Yeah sure censor stuff from kid shows but we're at the point where "unalive" and "pdf file" are being used as code words. Everyone knows what they mean, even the censors.

My wife jokes about this a lot but there's been at least 5 times over the past few years where I just happened to have the exact cable required in the box.

I do go through it every so often. I'm not hoarding VGA and DVI cables

I put Google cameras on my house years ago out of convenience and this is it, I'm spending the money on a PoE system where my footage stays on my own hardware.

I feel like this is basically what happens to half of the GDP generated by the US healthcare system. There's a shit ton of complex rules around payment, so insurances companies and providers basically jerk around with a shit ton of money while everyone gets fucked.

I have an old laptop I use as a server, it sits on top of a cabinet in the corner of my room. One day I noticed it seemed like the space key was being held down all the time, but only past the login screen. I was about to buy a new laptop because I thought the keyboard was totally broken (and its kind of old anyway). Turns out an old Bluetooth keyboard in my closet that was paired to my laptop got switched on at some point and the space bar was being pressed.

It's a LARP until it isn't, and we're really approaching the point where it isn't.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. GDP per capita is not really a good measure of quality of life on its own.

Historically the USA has brought a lot of people (most?) out of poverty by the world standard. Recent policy seems to be heading in the opposite direction. Quality of life has been declining for a long time, IMO mostly with our sense of community, the completely broken healthcare system, media consolidation, absurd levels of car dependency, high cost of having children, and a whole bunch of other location-specific factors (like cost of living in metro areas)

Or they'll just build a backdoor into it (it probably already exists) and never talk about it again.

The sommelier thing is at least somewhat real but it actually takes work. I don't think anyone is getting much better sound than 320kbps with a good quality sound system. $300 studio monitors can give you pretty much peak sound quality at this point, no unobtanium wires required.

Are nerds all audiophiles tho? 320kbps is usually fine. $300 speakers are usually fine. Nerds do the research, audiophiles are seeking unobtanium.

Lemmy already has downvotes and the ability to reply to posts, I'm not sure how different "community notes" would be when the entire platform is already effectively a big community notes
