There is a standard connector which existed before big screens landed in cars, the OBD2 connector. Dongles are cheap and you can read the output from your phone or computer. Some dongles support bluetooth. The connector is mandated in some markets and I guess that makes it less interesting to add a redundant interface inside of the car. It's fun to try if you're interested. Manufacturers can extend the error codes IIRC.

Tesla has a service mode on the display through which you can scan the car for faults, run a battery test, ... It is password protected but the password is publicly available.

TL;DR: Chains are better in tough conditions like mud and are easier to repair. Belts are great outside of these conditions.

I had to replace parts on my FP5. It fell on very bad asphalt at speed whilst cycling in a foreign country. The glass on the camera modules scattered. Display protector broke and the case got some good damage. I was instantly calmed realising it is a FairPhone and knowing I could order replacement parts.

Repairs were trivial and it feels good to have created just a tiny amount of e-waste instead of a large amount. The black aluminium case has some war wounds (scratches) reminding me of the trip.

The Docker runtime is probably ok as it is a tool instead of a community. The registry has a community aspect and is where we'll likely see exploitation of vendor lock in. Luckily Docker was grounded well and you can set up your own registry.

The sentiment I hear around me is that you have been lied to.

We have kept the lights on, like many of you asked, and we are looking forward to welcoming a new humorous generation.

Sure, it is not going to be under the same conditions. Things have moved around when you left. Empty voids have been filled. Regardless, I'd love for us to see the propaganda of the time for what it was, propaganda and lies, and to bring the actors and platforms responsible for willingly spreading lies to their knees.

Together we stand stronger in a strong Europe, and reuniting is a sign of Europe's resilience to external influences.

Lexend Deca from https://www.lexend.com/ because it's the only font I could find which was studied during it's creation for being more readable for many people.

Set up a Matrix bridge and promote it too. You can't force a community but you can inform and give choice.

There's a bit more changing on the web than what you may expect.

The web moves so fast that we ditched W3C standards for the WHATWG living standard because it took too long to release new features. I guess the "move fast and break stuff" stood too much in contention with W3C's vision of a standardisation track, and it did take a good while in the past. Anyhow, the last updatebto that stabdard was yesterday. https://html.spec.whatwg.org/...

Features like WebRTC, HTTP/3, CSS grid, JavaScript decorators, ... do not come for free. This is just a tiny fraction of what appeared in the past few years. The web is a highly evolving platform which (used to be? is? aims to be?) backwards compatible. This even ignores updates for required maintenance due to base platform APIs or frameworks changing.

It could be very smart to bring its evolution back under W3C so it would move at a more achievable pace with an equal voting process, but that's not the case today and I doubt it will happen any time soon.

In the coming years, building or maintaining a browser engine will be expensive.

Mercedes's stars have been on springs for decades indeed. You can easily push them over (but make sure you put it back nicely). I think Rolls Royce's Spirit of Ecstasy pops back into the hood but I don't know how that works on impact.

jank is a general-purpose programming language which embraces the interactive, value-oriented nature of Clojure as well as the desire for native compilation and minimal runtimes. jank is strongly compatible with Clojure and considers itself a dialect of Clojure.

Looks like they wanted Clojure to have a smaller runtime.

FreeCAD's Arch/BIM workbench

Draw in 2D to create 3D walls. Position windows, doors and others in 3D. Some features like the roof or stairs have their own modules.

You can always fall back to one of the other many workbenches should you need something not part of a typical home (weird stairs, a detailed cupboard, ...).

I could not find documentation easily in the past but it likely exists. For a video introduction the FCBLounge channel (YouTube) provides great visual tutorials.

I've documented part of our home in this to ideate remodeling. It can be used for pipework but I did not try that yet.

Even with a frozen system you can often still ensure data is written to inspect on the next boot. You may have a key labeled SysRq which likely needs an Alt modifier to trigger.

Alt+Shift+SysRq+s to sync data to disk. Alt+Shift+SysRq+u to unmount the disks. Alt+Shift+SysRq+b to reboot the system.

Execute them in that order.

This can help ensure the data about the mishap is written to disk so it can be inspected after the forced reboot. I also check the logs in /var/log but I suppose all of those are in journalctl too these days.

The internet is great for connecting machines. HTTP(s) could even be used to transfer messages. Blockchain is good for maintaining a historical record. The farther down the chain you go, the harder it becomes to rewrite history. You pay for this feature by requiring everyone to permanently keep the whole shared historical record. Some workarounds for the permanent storage of the whole history exist but that's blockchain in a basic form. The permanent record is a nice feature for things like financial transactions.

Blockchain bros tried to convince us blockchain is great for sharing information in an effort to increase its relevance. You may connect it for that reason. In their defence, blockchain can be used for data transfer, it's just not that great at it.

Blockchain could be used to assert trust, but most problems have equally good or better alternative solutions for that. Very often these use digital signatures and public-private keypairs.

You may want to look at YaCy for a decentralised search engine.

We also ask for a GitHub handle but when one supplies Codeberg or GitLab it's seen as very positive. Might not be the case for standard HR though.

The Dacia Spring fits the bill out of necessity (price). It is not fast, it has low range, uses cheap materials and it is rather small.

But I don't think it can spy on you and it's charming through its simple honesty.
