We had one configured like this in our midwest USA yard in the 80s. It's wild that they went unchanged for that long. And, like other commenters, my siblings and I would make it walk up and down the yard. It was about the only thing that could get us to cooperate.

Pure Arch isn't going to give you what you want. EndeavourOS is probably a better option. Nice installer, a relatively kind and helpful community on their forums, and you can use the Arch wiki to fill in the gaps.

Yep. I'm just a user, but I'm pretty sure that means nobody has taken the time to add the data. You can make an account and start editing some of the map yourself from inside CoMaps. For more granular detail, you'll need to visit https://www.openstreetmap.org/ and edit there.

The creator believes the
"better way" to use Linux is to spend time learning how the distro and its package management works before customizing.

The Zaxxon port is quite good, and I also have fond memories of F-15 Strike Eagle.

Last I checked, Roku doesn't have a Tailscale app. So unless Tailscale is working on your router the TV can't see the desktop's Tailscale IP.

I have a similar setup, and Roku only works if I connect to Jellyfin with the LAN IP. If your desktop isn't on the same LAN -- wifi or ethernet -- it won't work.

Haven't tried it since the move to COSMIC, but Pop!OS used to GPU switching in its settings GUI. It worked really well for my nontechnical family member's laptop that had Intel and Nvidia. Was in the power management controls, IIRC.

That sounds like a recipe for homelessness to me.

Lots of x86 machines are hitting the curb this week because they won't run Windows 10. One of those with a Linux distro installed will do what you want. Follow the directions in Jellyfin's documentation and you should be good. Adding your devices to a Tailscale network is the fastest way to be able to access your content outside of your home network. FireTV has a Jellyfin client and can also be added to Tailscale.
