The reasoning in question:

This game teaches - by way of images, information and gameplay - skills and knowledge that are used in poker. During gameplay, the player is rewarded with ‘chips’ for playing certain hands. The player is able to access a list of poker hand names. As the player hovers over these poker hands, the game explains what types of cards the player would need in order to play certain hands. As the game goes on, the player becomes increasingly familiar with which hands would earn more points. Because these are hands that exist in the real world, this knowledge and skill could be transferred to a real-life game of poker

So, this game teaches skills and knowledge that are used in poker. The skills in knowledge are limited to... playing and making poker hands. That's it. Also, "as the game goes on, the player becomes increasingly familiar with which hands would earn more points" -- is hilariously funny. The idea that knowledge of what a poker hand is is anything related to the dangers of gambling is ridiculous.

It's not really the photos. For me, it's that it's really unusual for him to have had all the evidence on hand. Like the ID, gun, silencer, notes, and a motive on hand, just chilling in McDonalds. He also gave away probable cause to search him by presenting the ID which he should have known was fake. Considering he took concealing steps like using a ghost gun, ditching his backpack, and making a relatively clean getaway, it's pretty odd.

Still it's obviously possible that he wanted to be caught or was exhausted... or just dumb enough to not think of that.

It IS a big thing that the evidence hasn't been presented officially yet. There's a lot of media talk implying that he's the guy but trial by media is not a verdict

This is what I don't get, people not migrating from a shit platform. Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, etc.

They all just reach this critical mass where people decide the benefit of everyone else using it outweighs all the negatives of the platform being abusive to its own users

This. AI Hype beasts keep saying "This is the worst AI will ever be" and "It'll just get better" but really it's just going to get worse as they actually try to turn the bubble into a profit

There are well-designed urinals now that don't splash back. Add to that, If there's a divider, then the urinal is convenient, quicker and imo cleaner because you don't have to touch the stall door or lock to close it and you're not pissing on the seat or sitting down. It's literally no-contact

well 1. he could be defended legally -- it's still not certain that he is even the shooter. The police and media have worked together and released lots of information on their side framing him as the criminal, but -- not unlike https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Jewell -- trial by media is not a verdict. Does the evidence hold up? All we have seen are pictures of the person of interest, pictures of Luigi, and statements that certain items were received. Without actual footage of the scenario, testimony, etc. it's totally possible that things aren't what they seem.

This isn't :(

I understand that we are angry, BUT we know nothing about this guy -- the company seems like a small niche manufacturing business. The guy isn't some super elite C-suite executive, he's just a high-level manager/director. Maybe he was an asshole. Don't know if he is guilty of anything though

This is a smarter breakdown. I had a similar thought that this is a test to see how many people will conform to a random demand, basically fielding for which departments are fighting against his authority to know the areas to focus on.

People keep parroting this statement. I'm so confused because it does not hold up to any scrutiny.

If you think for 5 seconds, school shooters aren't charged with the death penalty because they overwhelmingly kill themselves or die during the shooting. They are also usually children, which might get them more lenient sentences.

This type of surface level logic just makes the supporting side look bad. There are far better comparisons to draw from

Some of the most-played steam games are "Banana" and "Cats" where you literally click it every few hours and get steam item drops. Basically NFTs where people try to get rare items, but even more braindead because the developer, at any time can make more tokens.

I think the mistake here is thinking it's about "things" or material objects. Most people interface with money at a basic level: you can buy a new jacket, reliable car, a sizeable home, etc. However, at the level that you are with these billionaires, it's no longer about having things or owning things. It's about having more power to do things.

For example, there's are some fun little calculators where you can calculate all the things that some could spend their money on https://neal.fun/spend/ https://www.spend-elon-fortune.com/

At this point it's an imperialist kind of mindset, where you want to own multiple corporations, properties, and show it off to your wealthy colleagues that you are the best at X. It's probably not unlike how professional athletes will destroy their bodies with steroids to become the best in the world, just the negatives are externalized.

The person who committed the killing has “a great deal” or “a moderate amount” of responsibility for the Dec. 4 shooting of Brian Thompson

Is this meant to be a control or something? Isn't literally the person committing the killing responsible for the shooting... I don't get how that's not saying the same exact thing
