Last fall, lead-contaminated cinnamon applesauce pouches, imported from Ecuador, sickened hundreds of children. Food manufacturers aren't required to test for lead.

Due to budget limitations, the agency often has to rely on the food manufacturers themselves to do their own testing.

Because properly funding the FDA costs money so we're better off allowing corporations to operate on the honor system according to a large percentage of morons, both historic and contemporary.

We don't even have that yet. If I understand this article correctly it requires food manufacturers to test not the FDA.

Thankfully consumer reports Lunchables piece went viral. Maybe now these fucks will be shamed into funding food safety.

Then again, these are the same folks that stick with their party’s dogma even after elementary school kids get shot in class.
