I blame Ronald Reagan. People think when he implored Gorbachev to “tear down that wall” that the US had penetrated the Soviet Union. We didn’t it fell apart and oligarchs seized power like warlords do. Now we have an autocratic regime that vehemently and violently crushes diversions to its goal of unlimited power. The same goal that the Republicans have.

Because followers of a cult are more concerned with harming others, even if it happens themselves slightly less.

They can't see past their own noses. They don't want any government spending on things that don't directly affect them in a beneficial way.

You know, there's a difference between modern Russia and soviet Russia, soviet Russia posed an actual ideological threat to America whereas modern Russia is just kinda irritating and is threatening to hurt our economic dominance. There's a reason that Russia is a partisan squabble now and back then it was pitched as a nonpartisan fight of good versus evil.
