Any weapon can easily get you through basically all content. pick a weapon you think is interesting or cool, and the rest is a matter of the mods you use on it.
You'll get there, mate.
You need to Rank your stuff to Max to increase your own Rank. With your own Rank higher you unlock a bunch of other weapons. So I'd recommend a bit of "grinding basic weapons" to increase your arsenal. Different weapons for different situations and such.
Also Mods make the difference. If you can get some Corrosive damage on those buggers it should help a bunch.
You're probably a bit too weak.
You could make a braton rank 23 work, but you'd need good mods (which you probably don't have yet).
My personal recommendation is maybe do other content, hit MR4 and get yourself a Hek.
The Vectis is a good weapon at a low rank, does high damage and can help against Eximus that give you trouble. Imo sticking with either rifles or shotguns will help, since you can pour more effort into one category’s mods and get stronger overall. Otherwise it’ll take twice as long to get both sets of mods leveled up to do content
What is your mastery rank?
Maybe hold off on the open world stuff for a bit? Open world bounties are kind of a new player trap. That drone gave my group such a headache until much later in the progression - I think we were comfortably clearing Sedna stuff before we went back to Fortuna bounties.
Planet much later in the star chart than Venus. Difficulty-wise, the open worlds are on par with content much later in the star chart.
The Karak might be a small upgrade over the Braton. There aren't very many good primary weapons available at that rank. I would recommend increasing your rank a bit. Once you get to MR8, you can use the Fulmin which should easily carry you to end-game.
The Sonicor secondary weapon might still be good but I am not sure how the nerfs have affected it since I last used it.
Ack & Brunt at MR3 is a decent melee weapon for early game.
Might I ask what your build for the fulmin is I can use the soma but can't build that for the life of me.
Here is a 1 forma budget build
Here is a 5 forma non-budget build for Steel Path Vigilante Supplies is only used for the tiny crit buff, can be left out.
Works great with Zephyr. Group enemies in a tornado and use the shotgun mode on them.
I got stuck on that same mission my first time through. The thing the game doesn't explain to you is that the open worlds aren't really meant to be played until later in the game. There's some content you can do in them but in general you're going to struggle with every mission on them because you're not strong enough yet. I'd recommend working your way through the star chart and come back to the open worlds when you've got better guns/frames and mods
Build yourself a kitgun, they rule at low MR when all the good guns are locked.
Vermisplicer primary can punch through loads of content as one of the very few AoE weapons available at low MR, but requires a few trips to Deimos for the parts.
Catchmoon secondary has loads of punchthrough for nailing targets in a line.
Rattleguts Primary is a direct replacement for your braton.
Heh, I've never actually built a sporelacer, so I wouldn't know about that. I kind of lost interest in deimos after getting the helminth upgrade, trumna, and necramech. Maybe I should dip back in for the sporelacer.
unless im misunderstanding the problem, I don't think OP could get the fortuna kitguns given their current predicament.
Though, a sporelacer secondary would rip

Weapons that you have not leveled to rank 30 aren't "done" yet, so don't throw it out. You get experience from finishing things (getting them to 30). Also don't forget to mod your weapons and warframes if you are new.
