It's not legal. Under federal civil rights law, you are not permitted to consider religious affiliation in employment decisions.

In practice, this means that an employer is not permitted to explicitly have religious affiliation as a job requirement like the above, but in an interview process, you could make it very clear that your organization is a religious one and that a non-religious person might not enjoy working there.

So in practice, it's unlikely but not impossible that you're going to end up with a non-religious or other religion person working at a place like this because they just wouldn't want to. But they're not allowed to deny you the right to apply, be interviewed, and be considered for the position, if you're otherwise qualified.
