This community currently does not have an active moderator right now. With a recent increase in activity, we are also seeing some reports, and without a mod team those reports are going to the admins. It would be better for this community to have an active mod team to handle those.

Please reply here if you would like to be a moderator!

Hey! I'm willing to moderate this community to prevent potential astoturfers if that's okay. I would love this post to stay up to find more potential folks to help out.

This community can rot. Ban owners who make dogs evil, not a breed.

No one is saying they are evil. It's not behavioral, it's physiological, and it's genetic. Even well trained animals are a problem. You cannot have dangerous animals where they place others at risk. If it was a breed of snake responsible for large numbers of human injuries, you wouldn't bat an eye at its banning.

No one is saying pit bulls are evil however their breeding over time involved the best traits for dog fighting and yes they’re still being used for that nefarious purpose.

Exactly, we need to start breeding dogs that won't listen to their owners commands!

We should not promote dangerous and unhealthy breeds of dogs.

I'm glad that my city reversed a ban on pit bulls. I've volunteered at an animal shelter for nearly two decades and to say that pitbulls are more violent than other breeds is utterly preposterous. This is fear mongering.

Dog bite severity varies by the breed of dog, and studies have found that pit bull–type dogs have both a high rate of reported bites and a high rate of severe injuries, compared to other non–pit bull–type dogs.

Pit bull–type dogs are extensively used in the United States for dogfighting, a practice that has continued despite being outlawed. Several nations and jurisdictions restrict the ownership of pit bull–type dogs through breed-specific legislation.

The sole goal for this comm is to ban pit bulls from every jurisdiction and to treat the remaining ones with respect while every caretaker follows the required safety precautions to keep everyone safe. Dog breeds with documented health issues should also be prevented from being forcibly bred into this world.

Rules:

  1. Keep it civil.

  2. No advocating for violence.

  3. No pit bull advocate gaslighting. Though good faith debates are allowed.
