This all sounds like great advise! I don't know why dawn didn't come straight to my head, you know after seeing all the diffent birds being cleaned after oils spills. Anyway, thank you!
My cat got into a ground hog burrow and now he has a musky smell. If I give him a bath how should I wash it off?

Pretty self explanatory. Post animals, post pets, post stuff about animals and pets!

You might want to use cat claw clippers to take off the sharpest tips of her claws first. Make sure you know what you’re doing. Do not clip the quick.
Make sure the bath is pretty warm. Cats have higher body temperature than us, so cold water is even colder to them and may make them less likely to be docile.
Either get cat shampoo, or make a weak mix of dawn and water to pour over your cat. Massage the shampoo in briefly. Unless you realize your cat is enjoying it, in which case take your time.
Then have lots of clean warm wanted water to rinse your cat thoroughly. Make sure no shampoo/soap residue is left over. Cats have a short digestive tract and they usually ingest fur when grooming, so a thorough rinse will prevent tummy ache or sickness.
