City subs. My Albuquerque sub on Reddit is very active.
Same. Seattle had multiple subs that were active, mostly r/Seattle and r/SeattleWA. The latter unfortunately became garbage over the years as it was overwhelmed by alt right trolls who have never lived in the area, but the former was still pretty good and very active (even if it did always have way too many pictures of the space needle).
Beauty communities seem conspicuously absent for topics that have a large internet presence elsewhere. Makeup, skincare, hair, nail art, etc. I specifically miss the asian beauty sub.
We have a few general cooking/food communities that are nice and active, but I miss more specific things like ask culinary, chef knives, and communities geared toward dietary restrictions.
City and region-specific forums.
I feel like most "girly" communities are pretty dead here 😭
We do have a literature community, but I'd also like to see an actual book and audiobooks communities. Maybe e-readers community too.
HiFi Audio, headphones, budget audiophile, etc would be cool to.
Yes, I'd love an audiobooks community! I'd also like audiobook and ebook deals communities.
A headphones community exists! !headphones@lemmy.film
Ohhh ty! I joined.
Maths and statistics subs, specially the ones for homework help.
For me it's all of the academic subs.
I miss AskScienceFiction; it was always fun reading those in-universe answers.
There's one here on LemmyWorld, but it's pretty dead: !AskScienceFiction@lemmy.world
Arduino and embedded i miss seeing everyone’s cool projects.
Wow. I didn't realize there were playtesting subs. I'm not surprised, but that sounds like it could be pretty cool.
I'm hoping to get !geocaching@lemmy.world a bit more active. Currently I seem to be the only one posting
Yup that's a very cool find you posted about! Hope we can get to hear more such stories
The football/soccer sub isn't niche on Reddit obviously but it is absolutely tiny here (on the plus side, it's managed to claim its rightful name this time. Suck it, gridiron)
As for my team, Everton, well... Lemmy's probably not miserable enough for us to be well represented just yet.
I've thought the same haha
Anything revolving around collecting more obscure items. I was pretty invested in pens and mechanical pencils on Reddit…even though I don’t collect either. There was just something super satisfying about seeing all different types of pens / pencils and learning about them.
Also miss having a trumpet community! Hopefully one will eventually spring up and become active!
My local city sub. I should really get off my ass and fix that... I'm sure I will eventually...
Quake Champions, Anti-Consumption, Apple Music, Battlefield 2042, Jazz Memes, Garmin
I miss seeing cool ass Harley Davidson motorcycles being posted. Harley riders are already technology adverse and it was already a small community otherwise, but here is been completely dead. Even posts about motorcycles in general are pretty dead.
Crows, typography, goblincore, cyberpunk
Time for me to look up what Goblincore even is.
Edit: Looked it up. It's a little similar to cottagecore. I dig it.
There's actually some decent activity on the dbzer0 cyberpunk c/
Goblincore is harder to find. I think there's a c/for it, but I can't recall which instance it's !goblincore@lemmy.blahaj.zone
However, the only goblincore I need is nekrogoblikon tbh
I'm not finding a cyberpunk community at dbzer0.
I'm subscribed to the goblincore community on blahaj.zone, but it's only got two posts that I can see.
It was !cyberpunk@lemmy.ml
There's others, though that's the one I see often enough to have noticed it.
Okay. Thanks. I'm already subscribed there. It's sadly not as active as I'd like.
I hadn't been in a while. Lemme see if I can find the cyberpunk I'm thinking of then, I'm not subscribed, but I see it in all plenty.
Still waiting to see which guitar sub on which instance will come out on top. I miss seeing the NGD posts, answering questions for all the new folks, and learning about obscure equipment.
Wearables Hearables Mi band
Small cities where I live
Idaho. Doesn't seem like it would be that niche, but the sub was never that big, either. Here, it doesn't even exist. As a Washingtonian neighbor it was nice to see what was going on in that... interesting state. I was only ever a lurker, and don't live there, so I am absolutely the wrong person to start one up here.
Mostly specific videogame comunities, specially the most obscure ones like ace combat, armored core, wolfenstein, doom wads, and etc. I also miss the monster hunter sub, it was kinda cool to look at clips of players making lucky impossible shots or failing misarebly, i havent checked out if there is even an active one here on lemmy, but ill doubt is as active as the reddit one.
FantasyFootball was a pretty big sub on the other site that just hasn’t grown here yet. I’m doing my best to contribute and I do appreciate the thoughts and advice of everyone who does post to !fantasyfootball@lemmy.world but I hope it can get to a more sustainable level of activity by season start
thanks for using Leebra!

I miss the specific game subs, like Elden Ring, Satisfactory, Hades, etc. I don't think we have the population yet to have subs like these with lots of content posted each day.
