The problem with your post is you dont understand what the actual grievance is. Woke then meant seeing something wrong, and drawing attention to it to make the world a better place. Woke now is about self serving social media clout chasing nonsense.

When was the last time Star Trek had something to say that was anything like this:

We talk about our families, and we worry about the future. And we cry with each other when things seem hopeless. All of the loving things that you do with each other, that is what we do. And for that, we are called misfits, and deviants, and criminals. What right do you have to punish us? What right do you have to change us? What makes you think you can dictate how people love each other?

The episode you reference, wasnt speaking to the people who agree. It was speaking to the people who dont agree. It was flipping the script and forcing them to see the issue from the other point of view. Now all we get is a couple of minutes of pro noun lectures to other characters, who by this point in the time, shouldnt give a single fuck. But instead of that, we get some dude beaming with pride at another character being forceful in their assertion to be "they/them".

And this the fundamental problem with "woke". Its a fucking buzzword, that means nothing. When we complain about Star Trek today, its not because X and Y are in the show. X and Y have always been part of the show. The difference in that Star Trek used to be about showing us who we could be, now its about showing us who we are. Instead of giving us something to think about it, its tells us what to think. Star Trek has become a battleground for the perpetually online of hollywood, who think they are getting the MAGA lot in the neck, when the reality is they dont care. So now Star Trek is nothing more than self referential slop, that tackles social justice issues in the most self serving way possible in todays standards. They make this shit, then look to social media for a pat on the back.

And whats worse, they look at the above speech written in the early 90s, and call it "problematic" because it doesnt fit the 2020s way of speaking on the issue, which is to say, like a cunt.

There's also a weird anti-abortion undertone where, whenever they talk about removing the fetus, they clarify that they would only do that if they could guarantee that it wouldn't harm it. It's as though someone who was tricked into sex without their consent isn't justified in seeking an abortion (not that anyone needs a justification for an abortion beyond, "I don't want to continue this pregnancy").

Old Star Trek is the one before the one that got on TV while you were a kid. I grew up with TNG, so TOS is my old one.

Another way of measurement could be "was Gene Roddenberry alive and involved when this came out?", in that case, TOS and a good chunk of TNG are the old ST.

disco's problem is that the overarching plot is insane. i'm all for enthusiasm and happiness but when the culmination of an entire season is "a man-baby's crying caused half the galaxy to explode" then my disbelief-suspenders are snapped back on hard enough to leave marks.
