Of all the chaotic protest choices so far, this is definitely the funniest! Very curious to see how this pans out.

I also like r/videos's idea of letting users vote new rules. The only rules the mods decided were that submissions must be videos and that they must include John Oliver. Every week users can suggest their own rules and the most upvoted one will be added into their rules.

this might be the nuclear option needed

would be funny if every community did this, releasing reddit to the entropy of the internet

it also solves the argument of "well if your mods aren't modding then we can remove you"

I really want to know how they did it, and if I can apply it to subs that I moderate.

From what I had read, it seems like it’s done by letting people command AutoMod (or a different bot account that has Mod access to the sub) in the comments, similar to how people would use the RepostSleuth or RemindMe bots. So unfortunately, this probably dies when the API gets murdered at the end of the month.

I just read through the sticky post in the subreddit, and the list of actions that you can accomplish are all handled by automoderator directly, no need for API.

Scroll down to "Actions" - https://www.reddit.com/...

That makes this type of malicious compliance even better. I love when people are given the rope to hang themselves.

Well, it won't work after the 31st. There's no way all those conditions and actions can be monitored without an API dependent tool.
