Romanian MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu announced on Tuesday that the European Commission is in favour of establishing a Black Sea maritime security hub in Romania. This is evident in a letter from EC President Ursula von der Leyen to, which was published on his official Facebook page.

Romanian MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu:

This is a concrete step towards securing the Black Sea and Romania. I have received an official response from President von der Leyen regarding my initiative to establish a European Maritime Security Hub for the Black Sea in Romania. The Commission's message is clear: the maritime hub can be established, the European Commission supports this approach, and the decision depends on the coastal Member States. Romania has all the arguments needed to host this strategic hub
