Pink lady

2 months ago by MaybeSushi to c/cocktails

  • 3/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz aquafaba

Shake with ice, then shake one more time without ice.

The grenadine is homemade, and not bright red, so I guess it is more of a pink-ish lady. But still a great cocktail after dinner!

What's the flavor profile like on the Citadelle? Any other gins you'd compare it to? I see it a lot at my local and I've been trying to decide if it's worth trying a bottle.

I haven't tried many gins, but I would say that it tastes more like citrus than Beefeater, and it smells a lot more floral. But the citrus is not as strong as in Roku. It is priced similarly as Beefeater here, and I like Citadelle a lot more in a gin and tonic, so I usually go with it. I should probably work on my gin tasting notes though ^^ I heard that the Citadelle Jardin d'ÊtÊ was really good too, but I have yet to try it

Interesting. I generally like a more spice forward profile in gin, but I've found that Malfy, which is very citrus forward, can be absolutely superb in the right drink (it's the only way to make a good Negroni, for one thing). I think I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks for sharing OP! Don't let the 3/2 haters get to you, it makes perfect sense.

Personally I prefer describing mixed drinks in parts, that way the drink volume can be customized intuitively. For instance, your recipe is 3 parts gin, 1 part each grenadine, lemon juice, and aquafaba.

Here's a recipe for a Maple Cinnamon Whiskey Sour.

3 pt whiskey 2 pt lime/lemon juice 1 pt real maple syrup A dash of cinnamon Shake over ice and serve in glass of your choice

Now you can make a 3oz drink or a 9 gallon drink lol

Thanks! I usually save my recipes in ml, so like 45/15/15/15, but yes, parts does make more sense. I'm not used to oz, so I never know how one is supposed to write with them ^^ The maple cinnamon sour sounds good, I'll have to try it!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.
