Airlines looking for fare increases to stick, even when jet fuel costs fall | CNN Business

The soaring cost of jet fuel due to the war in Iran will lead to significantly higher airfares. But don’t expect ticket prices to drop once fuel prices start to decline.

More, more, MOAR!! It's just unrestrained capitalism. And it will never be enough...

They can try. Can't get blood out of a stone. They'll lose "price sensitive customers", and there's more and more of us every day.

Definitely. Flights are one of the few industries that actually sort of obey all that invisible hand bullshit.

It’s because there are enough competing airlines in most areas, combined with realtime price analysis, and the ability to plan far enough ahead to look for better deals. Basically the perfect “econ 101 supply/demand” situation.

Reminds me of FritoLay increasing the price of a bag of chips to $7. That didn’t work out too well for them.
