UPDATED: Reddit Reposting - Possible rule change

UPDATE: What it seems like the general opinion in response to this post is that we allow Reddit content to be posted here but it must be complete and not require a jump to Reddit to get the full story. I propose allowing Reddit posts but not requiring attribution, and if you want to link to the original, do it in a comment for those that want it but not in the post body. If that is objectionable, we can work on the rule more. I am going to make this change today but it's not immutable if you guys don't like the outcome. I'll leave this post pinned for a couple more days to facilitate any further discussion.

Hey guys, Rule 8 of this community calls out that it is okay to repost from Reddit (this rule preexisted my tenure here), but it seems to be pissing a lot of you off (and I get it too). Since it's in the rules right now I can't remove the posts so I am going to leave this post up for a few days to find out if you guys want to change rule 8 to prohibit reposting from Reddit. Personally I hate Reddit, but at the end of the day this community belongs to all of us. Let me know what you want to do and we'll go with the community consensus.

What's wrong with draining reddit content and increasing lemmy user share?

Why would anny lemmyist be against that? It's almost like some of people complaining are reddit plants.

why would anyone be against draining shitty content into our feeds? Gee I wonder? We don't need more content we need content to be real, human, and as high quality as possible.
