I would say debian is more equivalent to red hat being a core distro with no upstream while ubuntu (wierd to me you use kubuntu) uses debian as its upstream.

I have seen nothing to indicated this than people stereotyping them. I think its kinda the opposite. driving the speed limit or maybe even 5 under. which is actually the way people are supposed to drive but other drivers expect a minimum of 5 over and feel that 10 is normal and 5 is the slow side of acceptable.

no doomers are folks that realize that even if we did the best we could reasonably could we are not stopping global warming and even if we did somehow stop it with some sci fi technology it won't stop all the environmental issues that are equally bad. Its knowing there is no way out but the reaction to that knowledge is different from person to person. Its not at all uncommon for a doomer to have the view that they are going to contribute to it all as least as possible until they hit the grave. Going out closer to saint than sinner.

Yeah. Basically. Its claim to fame is getting off corpo control and algorithms. It also has more options for the user and portability. It does not change humanity nor is it some guarantee to get a better batch of humanity. I like the crowd but I do have no problems using block.

Thats exactly it. I don't think anyone should mind paying taxes and I think the lower taxes for a mythical economic return is voodoo economics. I would like to see a return on investment. Not to me in particular but to be part of a society where people can get help when they need it or better yet just get it so its not means tested and have nice public spaces and such.

Main thing is to make sure its tight. I generally only have cut myself when I did not have it tight and that mostly happened in the begining before I realized that was what caused me to get cut. I actually use one disposable a year to get it a bit closer for things like job interviews or special occasions. day to day it gets close enough. not smooth as a babys but but visually its fine.

Yeah it makes no sense to me. If you are at a scal where you have multiple locations and disaster recovery its pretty much all that is needed.

people react in different ways. im a doomer and always see doomers labeled as giving up but most I know are like me and will do everything they can to not be a part of it as much as possible. I want to be the guy bailing water as we sink not the one drilling holes.
