How do you make your Sims interesting?

4 months ago by MonsterTrick to c/thesims

I'm about to play The Sims 2 again and I wanted to give a try creating a custom neighborhood as I always like creating things. The only thing I got idea of is just the sort of community lots I want to make as well as which the few I want as Sim-owned business.

How do you planned out your Sims to make them feel like an individual in the way that they don't feel like a same person. Anytime I create a Sim, they feel generic or a Mary-Sue.

Give your Sim a primary motivation. Anything. This Sim wants to be a musician at all cost. And then build their look, their fashion choices, their personality traits around that motivation. Build their house around that motivation. There's an empty corner of the house that will remain empty until they can afford to put a drum set there.

The people they befriend, the people they develop relationships with are all on the condition of fulfilling that motivation. The needs and wants they go after are all centered around that motivation.

Whether those choices are good or bad, or whether even if that Sim succeeds or not makes them a more interesting character.

my go-to advice is to play as “what would them do” instead of “what do I want them to do” even “bad” events can help you discover new ways to play
