AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Review - Maximum Cache

4 months ago by Rekall Incorporated to c/hardware

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition sets a new standard for desktop performance, featuring 3D V-Cache on both chiplets for unprecedented gaming and productivity gains. With 16 cores paired with 192 MB of L3 cache, this processor delivers exceptional performance without the complexity of asymmetric caching. Yes, it dominates gaming, too.

Most of this article reads like it was written by AMD.

Still happy to see Intel get shit on, however

You say this but honestly this chip is a total joke for almost all gaming use cases. 7800X3D / 9800X3D are way better value for most gamers if money is an object.

270k plus is just fine for gaming on the intel side and pretty high up on the cost per fps chart. I'm no intel fanboy, i've been AMD for multiple generations now (5800x, 5800x3d, 9800x3d | 6800XT, 9070xt)

Nobody is buying this CPU for the value.

Sure, Ryzen 6th gen is also right around the corner. 5th gen started in 2024 which is why these minor refreshes are so underwhelming imo

There are situations were people use such CPUs for both gaming and use cases were you do use the extra cores/cache.
