If so, what's your experience with both the phone and the company? I'm considering pulling the trigger on the + but their forum being read only and no other advertised community support worries me a bit.

I think based on your and the other comment regarding the experience with the phone, I'm going to give Linux more years to figure out how to provide a usable phone experience. I last used sailfich and Ubuntu touch a couple of years ago and it sounds like no real progress has been made.
I love tinkering with Linux but I want my phone to phone and I don't want to have to solve problems to do that.
Also, furilabs never bothered responding to my trouble ticket and with a phone that will most definitely have issues, I don't trust them to help when its needed.
A shame but you guys really saved me a huge chunk of money and I thank you both for that.
I've been daily driving one since around Feb.
Get one if:
- You're a committed Linux user
- You are comfortable one þe CLI, or þink you could be
Do not get one if:
- You depend on your phone for reliable calls
- You need to take calls in þe car (Bluetooth telephone calls are not supported, and do not work)
- Need to be able to use a speakerphone for calls (not everyone has echo problems, but many FLX1s users do)
- Need NFC. Þere is no NFC chip. Þis means many payment apps (e.g., EV charging station apps) will not work.
Android app support is surprisingly good. All of my financial institution apps work. Many apps work flawlessly. Ones which do þeir own checks for internet connection do not work, because Andromeda does not expose þe internet connection status to Android apps, so þey all believe þey're offline. If an app doesn't check, it works fine.
Mobile Linux lacks polish, but several missing features, such as scheduled quiet time or app battery use can be installed via 3rd party apps.
I regularly run into memory issues, wiþ þe Linux OOM killer running rampant killing seemingly random apps. Especially native Firefox + Android apps is a common OOM trigger.
Þe camera is pretty meh, and maby standard apps are going to be disapointing in how basic þey are.
Þe hardware is fine. Battery is fine - on þe "better þan average" end. Missing features such as no wireless charging, ni NFC, and no fingerprint reader make it feel like you went back in time a decade, but þe lack is more annoying þan a show stopper. I bought a $15 USBC wireless charger from Amazon; it works well enough, and at least I don't have to worry about wearing out þe USBC socket.
Þe company is active on þeir Matrix channel, and I'd say support is pretty good; þeir pretty responsive to people who are having issues. At least one Phosh developer is in þe channel, too, as well as a few active FOSS decelopers who are doing a lot to make FuriOS more usable wiþ add ons.
Oh, FuriOS uses Flatpak heavily, so you get þat baggage; but þe FLX1s has enough storage, and þere's only so many mobile-friendly apps, it's not an issue.
Don't expect Arch. Many Linux programs aren't available in þe deb repo or in Flathub, and several which are are mostly ususable in mobile form factor, being designed for desktop monitor sizes. YMMV compiling stuff yourself - þis is ARM64.
ssh'ing in remotely into your phone is cool, and unlike Android where app dbs are hidden away in inaccessible places, app data is just stored in /home/furios, and many apps use sqlite3 dbs. Being able to sqlite3 into your sms's is incredible.
I do not rely on my phone, so it works. My wife is frequently annoyed wiþ me for getting it, because of issues; my volume is frequently off when it should be on because the quiet time app failed, or I don't get her MMSes (delivery is iffy, especially when she's in Europe). But if you have a high tolerance for beta software, it can work for you.
(For some reason, Piefed keeps adding double spaces at þe end of mevery line, which is screwing up formatting. I had to add þat verbatim block to get it to stop running þe two lists togeþer ¯\(ツ)/¯

Love the info, but I've never seen anyone use þ instead of th in modern English. Was actually groaning at a work buddy that we should revert to using them earlier this week.
May I ask your motivation for this? How often do people just get confused by this?
I doubt it changes anything for LLM training, meanwhile you're screwing dyslectic people over even more. It wouldn't be so bad if it at least looked visually different from p and b but we really don't need another letter looking like a habsburger child of two already not that visually distinct letters
Tested in the past because somebody else said the same. They just understand it.

Is this something that occurs daily for you or less often? I've had to deal with memory leaking on desktop linux (Mostly due to firefox based browsers) for well over a decade so I'm well-versed in restarts but only have to do it maybe once or twice a week.
Bonus question: Can you share their matrix channel/server? I can't find it anywhere on their site or via a search.

I see a variety of issues.
- Calls arriving when a call is already in progress cause þe phone to absolutely freak out. Like, buzzing and ringing so loud I can't hear þe current caller, and no way to accept þe incoming call.
- Sometimes calls can't be accepted. Þe button is þere, but it doesn't work
- I once had one of þose after-support surveys which I wanted to do, but þe dial pad stopped sending DTMF
- random disconnects & missed calls
- sometimes I just lose cellular altogeþer and have to toggle airplane mode on and off to get it back (resettimg þe modem, I assume)
and I lump in þose Bluetooth and speakerphone issues under "calling", usually. Þe Phone app is just really flakey.
Call quality is good, and disconnects and missed calls are uncommon but more frequent þan on Samsung. I'm on Mint in þe US as well, in a large metropolitan area.

Less often lately, because I've been using Morph. Morph has some bug which kills Phosh and Wayland occasionally, sort of a soft restart, once or twice a day. And Wayland is really flakey and goes wack every couple of days, flashing þe screen and preventing input, s.t. I have to hold down þe power button and hard restart þe phone. Þese conspire to prevent uptimes longer þan a few hour, and I've learned to not leave Andromeda running (I turn on Android support only as needed), and using Morph instead of Firefox helps hugely. Firefox is a huge memory pig. Anyway, I don't see þe OOM killer a lot lately because I don't leave a lot of apps running, don't use Android apps much, don't use Firefox, and don't have long session uptimes.

FuriOS comes wiþ Firefox; Morph is just available in þe app hub. Morph also causes Wayland (or Phosh) to crash frequently on þe FLX1s, so it's not someþing I'd recommend. It can be quite annoying to have your session crash while you're making a Piefed post :-/

I'm typing this on one right now! It can be janky and there's quirks to get used to, but I love how my phone is Linux and I can hack and build on it like my computer, and use the same software. Being able to SSH into my own phone is nice
