Literally starting a land invasion after the war and trying to play the victim...

Hezbollah said its fighters launched attacks on Israeli forces attempting to advance into Lebanese territory.

The group said an Israeli military unit was lured into a "kill zone", where three Merkava tanks were destroyed near the Ali al-Tahir area south of the country.

A second Israeli unit attempting to retrieve the first group was then targeted with a rocket barrage and mortar shells.

In a statement posted on social media on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to make Hezbollah pay a “heavy price” for its attacks.

“Israel will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon for as long as necessary for the protection of the communities of the north,” he said.

It is worth pointing out that that is literally the statement from a terrorist organisation who is currently fighting against Israel. Not to say Israel is better, but probably worth a bit more caution than just to believe them straight up

Anyway can we just completely get rid of both of them for the good of humanity

Hezbollah was founded in 1982 by Lebanese clerics in response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

Considering they're literally still defending against Israeli invaders...

It's hard to call them terrorists and not "freedom fighters" reminiscent of any populace that takes it upon themselves to fend off an invasion.

Like bro, what else are the people supposed to do?

Just let Israel take their land?

That was tried 70 years ago, they just keep taking more.

And that's not even getting into how one wing does have substantial power in Levanon's government...

That doesn't mean they aren't terrorists, especially given the Lebanese government has been trying to get rid of them to no avail because, like you said, one wing has substantial power. Hell, half of Israel's government got into power based on ideology that thier neighbours would always invade and try to get rid of them and therefore they should become fascists, that doesn't make them not terrorists either. If they wanted to actually help Lebanon and its people instead of furthering their own and Iran's goals, they could fucking work with the Lebanese army.

Just because you don't know the reason, doesn't mean there's no reason...

The only people who think like that, are ignorant blowhards like trump...

A year ago, I wrote a detailed analysis explaining why the Lebanese Armed Forces could not defend the country - not for a lack of bravery or unity, but because they were systematically denied the tools of national defence.

Today, every point has been proven true, brutally and repeatedly.

Since the “ceasefire” began on 27 November 2024, Israel has carried out more than 10,000 violations of Lebanese sovereignty, including more than 7,500 air violations and 2,500 ground violations, alongside repeated naval breaches, assassinations and systematic destruction.

Unifil, which has monitored the ceasefire line for decades, confirms that Israel’s actions violate Resolution 1701, the primary legal framework for maintaining a 2006 ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Israel simply ignores it.

And the Lebanese army cannot stop any of this - not because it refuses to, but because Lebanon is not allowed to possess the means.

The Lebanese army is not weak. It has been deliberately weakened. Everyone demands that the army protect the country, but no army can do so when its radars cannot see the aircraft violating its skies; its helicopters are outdated and grounded for lack of parts; it has no air-defence systems; and its soldiers patrol under hostile drones 24/7, with no ability to bring them down.

Since 2006, the US has provided more than $3bn to the Lebanese army, but only for light weapons, Humvees, rifles, night-vision gear and aircraft maintenance. It’s been enough to prevent collapse; never enough to defend Lebanon.

Lebanon’s defence budget up to 2024 came in at $768m, most of it comprising salaries crushed by economic collapse. Israel’s defence budget was $36.9bn. The Lebanese army ranks 115th globally in military power; Israel ranks 15th.

A country with no effective air force and no air-defence systems cannot defend its skies.

This is not misfortune. It is policy.

The Taif Agreement of 1989, heavily shaped by US influence, placed ceilings on Lebanese military capabilities to preserve Israel’s “qualitative military edge”.

Lebanon as a country isn't allowed to have the missile defenses to prevent Israel's attacks which have went on for decades.

The only way for the Lebanese people to fight back is thru assymetrical means.

Their only other option is lay down and die.

That's why everyone is so tired of your uninformed takes.

Read that link, read more links.

When people say something you don't know about, ask fucking questions.

That's how people get past the default state of ignorance, instead of just blindly repeating fascist propaganda like you keep doing

    • Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
  • Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

  • Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.

  • Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.

Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

  • Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.

  • Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
