Malaysia's social media ban for minors sparks privacy debate

Malaysia’s ban on social media for people younger than 16 has been framed as a child-safety measure, but critics warn that it could prove difficult to enforce and may come at the cost of online privacy.

We have a phone in the house specifically for the kids to do their thing for an hour when they get good grades or wash dishes or whatnot. We can only control access via telling Google when our kid needs to be on the phone. That's highly fucked up!

I want to be able to simply add 15 minutes or set a daily schedule or give them access for a day. I should be able to do that from the phone itself.

With the shit parental controls from Google I have to type in a password for every action. It's insane. That is more protected than my computer at work. They're just psychologically trying to get us to sign with our face so they can steal that for themselves for some other nefarious government related and highly paid business they got going. Google is such a shit asshole company. We need to stop using them and let them slowly drift into nothing like yahoo did.
