In this video, I share with you why I believe Reticulum is the "Post Internet Network". I also share some R&D work to use the Mercury HF modem and modem73 wi...

I'm involved with advancing Meshcore in my country, and started my journey with Reticulum. Love it. However, no-one else seems to share the passion for it. There's always someone going 'what, rectum?!' and the rest haven't even heard of it. It's almost as if it has some kind of a public image crisis in the HAM spheres here. Why might that be? Should have been called 'UNMQ-XQ' for Universal Networking Mark Qvist - Extra Cool to fit the canon?

I've seen some Ham people getting pissed about the Reticulum creator demonstrating various things in ways that break laws. Transferring an image over Lora while not respecting air-time regulations or something like that.

Gatekeepers will gatekeep. The demonstrations are just that. Demonstrations. They are not seeing the Forrest for the trees so to speak. The idea is that you can create a network with pretty much anything, and demonstrates that capability. I think the people complaining are expecting that people interested in implementing this would only use it illegally or outside of reasonable norms.

I don't know if his rigs will transmit there, or if he could open up his rigs to transmit there, but there are ISM bands in HF at 6 and 13 megahertz.

He has used it over HF but I don’t think he did it in a band he is supposed to be using for this kind of thing. He did say the test was made using dummy loads over short range to stay legal. If I remember correctly, those HF bands have additional restrictions that prevent use for mesh networking

Oh, well, I'm blind, so I wasn't able to see what frequency he was using in the video, if he ever showed it.

As for whether there are additional restrictions for the HF-ISM bands for mesh networking, I'm not sure.

It may have been in a different video where he showed it working on his licensed VHF frequency. He has a business license for a frequency in the 70cm band so he can do encrypted radio traffic on it. He just talked about using HF with dummy loads to test if it worked.

I think the vhf and hf ISM bands are limited to “mobile radio” and I’m not sure what that means but it likely prevents using encrypted data.

A neat project. I like his setup.
