Federation issues don't seem limited to Quokk.au

I made a post from my AZ account in !vamp_tm@ttrpg.network and left a comment under it.

The post seems to have federated fine.

But the comment did not.

Along with my previous two posts about federation issues with quokk.au, the common factor seems to be AZ, so I suspect that is where the issues stem from.

Federation lag has significantly deteriorated in the last couple of days, with lemmy.world at least.

Probably caught up in restrictions I applied to protect AZ from AI bots scraping and breaking the site. Will take a look.

I've noticed a large proportion of my comments are lately being completely ignored. When I investigated and opened the links in a private browser, it's in a strange sort of limbo.

Directly linking to the aussie.zone comment ID works, it's displayed, but out of context. But opening the original thread on lemmy.world or wherever, my comment is completely missing.

I'm guessing it means my comments are often not being federated? I haven't been able to find any pattern to this other than it primarily affects lemmy.world. I haven't had similar issues in programming.dev for example.

Looking at my comment history, it seems to have started approx 3 days ago (4 Aug 2026)

An example of a missing lemmy.world comment direct link, which displays it out of context: https://aussie.zone/comment/24346362

The same lemmy.world comment's parent link, which shows it missing: https://lemmy.world/comment/25166215

An example of a fine lemmy.world direct link: https://aussie.zone/comment/24334160

An example of a fine programming.dev direct link: https://aussie.zone/comment/24312153

Looks like outbound federation from AZ to LW is having issues for the last few days:

Looks like we had similar issues with other instances at the same start time, but they recovered:

I'll look into this more over the weekend if I get the time.

Do you know what will happen once it's resolved? Will my comments suddenly "flood through" and appear in the recipient's inboxes as if I sent 40 messages at once? Or will the original comment time (e.g. 2 days ago) be retained?

I'm not sure... but it looks like this resolved after I upgraded AZ to 0.19.20:
