I fixed the AC flap thing

3 months ago by fluxx to c/3dprinting

So, the end of the flap of my mini split deteriorated and crumbled - from just age, I don't know. The shaft of the motor just spun freely in the little nub, and the flap wouldn't open. I tried glue, but the brittleness of the nub made it just crack in a different spot. So this is what I came up with. Just a small brag. To me this is what 3D printing is all about.

Yeah, the amount of things I've printed to solve a minor problem is quite a lot.

It's such a great feeling, isn't it? The most impressive example of this I've managed was designing and printing in TPU new tires for my e-skateboard. It took a few iterations before I found the right "no air" design and TPU, as some are harder and less flexible, but in the end I was able to print long-lasting tires that gripped well and were flexible enough to be comfortable.

Hell ya, nice work, its always satisfying to go from idea to physical and have it work.
