California Democrats defy Newsom, back billionaire tax
2 months ago by VetOfTheSeas to c/billionaire
That's the usual pattern. They promise, we elect, they betray, they blame the other guys, promise for realsies this time, we elect again, they betray again.
And in a two party system, in a state like California where they will not elect a Republican (unless they run a dozen spoiler candidates in the so called open elections) then Newsom can do what he wants. Now he’s a lame duck. But he can still suck corporate dick for that presidential backing.
He doesn't stand a chance to be the nominee. Kissing Sociopathic Oligarch ass is bad for your political career these days. It brings money, but chases off votes. Money is important, but not as important as votes.
These Corpo-Establishment Democrats are starting to find out that while they were trying to create a MAGA-Lite experience as an alternative to MAGA, we've been going in an entirely different direction, and we are NOT interested in what they have to offer us, at all.
They think they're still calling the shots, and that's about to change. We are about to launch a whole bunch of new Progressives and Warrior Dems into DC, and they, and we, don't want to hear any excuses. Any existing Dem losers who don't match the new energy, better get out of the way, because if they aren't on board by 2028, they'll be replaced.
It's not just MAGA seats on the table, it's Democratic seats, too, so...
What have you done for us lately? And you better not say Israel.

The concept of a People defying their representative is a very contemporary one.
