Some people are hyper protective of their kids and some aren't. If it's th former then it's pretty serious, if it's the latter then it's just a pleasant moment and the guy is chill. Either way it's a cool moment. As a trans person you really gotta feel out these moments in a different way.

It’s a kid showing you that they feel affection for you. Depending on the age of the kid, it could be as simple as: adult woman = a mom = happy Mother’s Day.

I am not trans, so I can’t speak from experience about how you should feel, but my outside opinion is that you should try to enjoy it for what it is—a female experience, a nice little gesture, and a potential for bonding. You aren’t the first woman to have their boyfriend’s child get a little attached, and you definitely won’t be the last. If this were my child and my girlfriend, I’d want to discuss things together so we can navigate the growing bond with the child in a way that is healthy for everyone.

I hope this story has a happy ending. Adult/child mentor relationships don’t have to always come from a spouse, and they can be really great for both the child and the adult when handled well.
