GNOME Shell Design Dreams

2 months ago by inari to c/gnome

The GNOME Shell user interface has mostly seen minor refinements and quality of life updates in recent cycles, but on the design side we've explored a lot of longer-term things we'd like to do. Some of these we have relatively complete plans for, others are more vague ideas that need more research and prototyping. As...

The return of the transparent panel is something i've long awaited, been jealous of elementaryOS having that working out of the box for so many years now...

This looks good!

My own wish list is just a "phone" mode which enforces full screen and button navigation (no I don't want to use phosh it's so much worse)

It's a hack on top of gnome and instead of doing it properly with an extension they also remove a ton of stuff like search functionality. It's replaced with the most fuckass app listing with no ability to organize things into folders or rearrange them, that assumes you'll want a ton of shit in your way when you want to open an app that doesn't say it has responsive layout.

I just want gnome with phosh tiling.
