After installing MegaSync, I can no longer install packages on CachyOS pacman

When installing MegaSync for the first time, I used this command from their website in order to install it: wget https://mega.nz/... && sudo pacman -U "$PWD/megasync-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst"

And no, even using -Sy didn't work. I guess me being an idiot and not understanding how Linux works or why it functions like this, I can no longer install anything with pacman as it complains about a repo database file for "Arch_Extra" being missing now :(

Looking at the command, I assumed the download would temporarily switch to that repo that was necessary to download the program, not completely alter how my pacman works though...

I'm not sure why MegaSync would just override everything and ruin my pacman like this.

Just open a terminal and update the database.

$ sudo pacman -Syy

Then install it from aur instead of wget it.

$ paru -S megasync-bin

General Linux advice is to not install something from the vendor's homepage but using your distribution's own methods.

Only go the vendor's route if you are encountering bugs or need a feature not present in the version shipped by your distribution.

Thanks for the tip, I do normally do that as a first instinct when installing things. However, Megasync wasn't on the official cachyos repo for me like many things I end up looking for :( So I had to check the vendors website to see if it was even available on Linux at all.

Perhaps I should have just checked the AUR repository or installed it via a different method instead of doing all that beforehand. I admit it's my fault for not looking up what wget even was at first lol

Somehow I missed the AUR part. AUR is currently suffering from several attacks. Packages from there should always be checked. But rarely are.
