Looks to me that they do want peace. And that they also want to be constantly on the brink of war so they have an official enemy to placate their population, but no further than the brink.
edging war is crazy
I mean, it is if you think war and peace are binary positions
Huh, no. I understand the nuance. Considering tha to be on the brink of war there needs to be fear and tension at the least. Does that sound peaceful?
Quite the wiff on your part if you ask me.
I mean if the country you relied on for defence for the past 7 decades suddenly tells everyone that they're not going to back any of their allies up any more, raids your air defence system missile stocks for some mad war in the Middle East, and vacates the area, what would you do?
Don’t forget that the north has sold most of their artillery stock piles off to Russia and sent many of their troops to Ukraine. A huge part of their position was having that massive artillery stockpile aimed at Seoul. They are in a much weaker position, militarily, and much more stable with the building materials, food, and cars they’ve received in return.
The long-term outlook isn’t very good, but for now there is less of a need for military presence and war preparation on the peninsula.
Giving the Kim dynasty anything is a mistake. They will take the idea and spin it as if they successfully negotiated peace even though the world was against them. They will portray it as if they have the superior military might. In the end, through NK people still suffer.
It seems that their economy has been booming lately, with Russia buying their stockpiles and China dumping some of their excess prodution on them. I have no idea if that growth actually translates to a better life for their people but I really doubt they'd be better off with a shrinking economy.
If it's anything like the US, China or Russia, all the money trickles up
Nope, the Kim family survives on power. They will trade anything and everything to remain at the top
There's been an outbreak of civil rest
