There seem to be a serious lack of western countries with enough of a spine to stop support for Israel.
But its also important to remember that the conditions at the end of ww2 where that no country wanted to house all the freed jews. Most countries had tight immigration quotas.
For the most part it was the UK which ahum “owned” Palestine according to imperialist bureaucracy.
For a simple minded person it might have made sense.
Zionist jews were already actively occupying Palestinian land. And even the early Nazi regime allowed (often rich) jews to move to Palestine retain some of their wealth trough the UK (i am not sure about the economic details here, i am talking about the Havaara agreement)
The UK could legaly do with Palestine as they wanted.
Europe needed a solution to house all the freed jews.
Obviously it is a bit of an issue that their where already people living there and the two state solutions was never more then an attempt to claim “we tried”
But heck was it easy, all France and other nations essentially had to do was nod and they had a solution with no further effort required.
Fast forward many years later and i am certain those very same nations are very troubled with the current events.. not the events themselves but the knowledge that they are responsible for it.
A nation can at that point do two things.
Admit wrongdoing of their past, which rarely happens.
Double down supporting the idea as the supposedly only possible option.
In highlight of that, it is somewhat applaudable that some are finally starting to correct their stance.
Who created the colonies, and who brought the colonizers to the colonies, was who, armed the colonizers? Yes the state of Israel which France still support, and buy weapons from, and sell weapons to
