Has anyone experience with welcome to my garden?

Welcome To My Garden: Free camping spots in people’s gardens for slow travellers. Brought to you by a warm-hearted community of citizens.

Hey, since warmshowers is currently down I am looking for alternatives. Does anyone here have experience with welcome to my garden?

This looks like a promising alternative to the thoroughly enshittified Warm Showers and Couch Surfing, both of which used to be awesome. Thanks for the link!

Edit: for anyone curious about some of the downfall of Warm Showers: https://warmshowers.bike/

Thanks. I was a frequent warm showers host and occasional user (20:1 ratio about) from when it was a list, then the app. But two things happened - somehow it got paywalled to use, and the people arriving thought they’d booked a hotel. Really - the users attitudes changed completely. I gave up hosting. When I was going to tour a couple of years ago with my tent I tried SleepyBike but there was almost nobody on it. I camped, used some hostels, and did my last night in a hotel. I was fine. I’d be happy to see a support group back in place. For touring cyclists by touring cyclists. But I’m not sure I’d do it again - I was very much dis-illusioned.

Also a former WS and CS host and user. I haven't had any bad experiences either as host or user, which I thought odd if only from a sheer numbers/probability standpoint. My take was that I was merely very lucky. Even a large group of dirtbagging teens I hosted were beyond courteous and chill. But constant nagging for money (for being a host? fuck off) and lack of transparency broke it off for me. Sure I get that servers and development cost money, but the compensation packages were unreasonable for services that are provided by community volunteers.

It looks like there are some good options now for hosting.

Back in my day, we just called it passing out drunk in somebody's bushes.

I used 1NiteTent once. Was a nice experience, but is limited mostly to germany and has inactive spots.

For all the pedal pushers out there that love long distance cycling. There are no gear requirements and no 'minimum distances' here.

Have you ridden for a cheeky overnighter or a 3 year global trek? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.

Have you got panniers, bikepacking bags or just a backpack with the essentials? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.

Have you got the latest in carbon engineering or your dads old 10 speed from the 70's? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.
