Why would anyone scratch out "horny"? Are we all at Sunday School or something? Sheesh.

@drewph @NickEast_IndieWriter @reading @bookstodon @books @fantasy @worldbuilding @humor@fedigroups.social @humor@lemmy.world @aiop censorship on commercial social media. Many people believe that sharing text or even screenshots with content that can be interpreted as sexual on, say, Instagram, is penalized by the algorithm and can even lead to automated restrictions or suspension of their account.

@drewph @NickEast_IndieWriter @reading @bookstodon @books @humor Pretty sure it can get your post flagged on social media networks with automated moderation.

@hypolite @NickEast_IndieWriter @reading @bookstodon @books @humor @drewph True, but Mastodon is not one of those networks, so the crude self-censorship looks weird and out of place as far as I'm concerned.

(To be fair, the excessive numbers of groups and hashtags in one message also looks out of place, and might imply this was a generic marketing post set to publish to multiple platforms)

@diazona Oh it does look hilarious to me from here, but there’s still a (bad) reason for this defacement.
