Fortescue green iron rival wins Arena cash to scale up Perth demonstration plant
2 months ago by Gorgritch_Umie_Killa to c/environment
“Australia has a significant opportunity to use our renewable energy and iron ore resources to build a globally competitive green iron industry,” Faris said in a statement on Wednesday.
This is the point. It must be frustrating for Fortescue to see ex-employees starting up their own operations, but if we are going to lead the world on this, and turn this resource into a national competitive advantage, then the 'industry' needs to be more than Fortescue.
A 'Tim Rothian' style market is always going to be better with dynamic set of participants. We should think about green iron production like silicon valley or Solingen. These are places where many companies add up to make more than the sum of their parts. The Pilbara should be a form of that for green iron production.
