My brother has to replug his mouse every time he boots his PC or it doesn't work

a month ago by Lena to c/linux

His PC runs Ubuntu 24.04 and the mouse is a Razer Basilisk V3 35K. I tested it on my Ubuntu PC and it had the same problem.

Here's the fastfetch output:

It has a GIGABYTE A620M GAMING X motherboard.

I'm using the same mouse on Tumbleweed without any problems. If it acts up on two different machines I'd say the mouse is broken.

Try if any other mouse gives the same issues.

I would look in dmesg for hardware errors.

Is the mouse plugged directly into the motherboard USB port? I've had this with the built in USB hub in my monitor, it fails to initialize after waking up sometimes and needs a replug.

I have a mouse with the same problem. I just wrote a script to turn the USB port off and on at boot. Works like a charm.
