Until websites start actively blocking Firefox (and Linux) usees, because the Google owned recaptcha says you're a bot.

Its just a matter oft time until "security" bullshit is used to block everything that doesnt use Microsoft/Google/Apple pseudo security features like Play Protect.

You don't use a kernel that is approved by us? You have administrator rights on your device? Then go f**k yourself because we don't allow you to own anything.

I'm kind of looking forward to just completely disconnecting from the digital world.

Isn't it kind of a trope to see these skilled engineers just buy land and drop out to farm. I just want a small piece where I can homestead and grow enough vegetables to get me through the winters and use the rest of my energy building local community.

Yep. Fuck, I'm just an end user, not employed in any sort of tech, I have a one man landscaping business. But I can see which way the wind is blowing. I'm not so concerned about my privacy that I run graphene, but location is "off" as much as is possible on my phone, and I notice my general habits around giving away data are different than my friends. I'm not exactly sure what will draw the line, but I imagine one of these days something will change that requires a level of identification online to interact with that I'm simply not going to accept, and if it's on a broad enough level, then I'm force resetting to early 00's tech.

Sadly predictable isn't it? One hope might be some kind of browser spoofer add-on, but I don't know if that's possible.

I work with this category of technology in the professional world, but in the side of "user logon" instead of "device validation".

It works great for user authentication because it can guarantee that a user who wants to keep the secret can. Website and user are on the same side, so the user being defended defends the website.

Device validation is ultimately a dream because the user and the website are adversaries. There's no way to know that what's being executed is being executed by my software, or on the computer I'm talking to, in the manner I expect.

The closest you can get is making it more difficult than it's worth.

There's always going to be something like a plugin. It might be more involved, but same idea.

I think eventually I'll end up settling on a local model that drives an acceptable fresh browser in a VM for every website I need to go to and then duplicates the information in a form I prefer. Basically a real time translator between enshittified websites and me.

You know what costs 10x as much as maintaining a website to schedule your appointments, or having an online bill pay system, or talking to an bot to answer your question?

Doing all those tasks offline using human resources. Pay your bills by sending in checks or calling and forcing the company to still have a call center. Stop using online resources when there are offline ones.
