Car vinyl (1960)

a month ago by EnmebaraGuesser to c/vintageads

In the late 1950s through the 1960s, you could order automobile record players as a factory option. There were also aftermarket models. It seems that most of them were for 45s, not 33 RPM LPs, so you'd only get a single song before needing to switch the record it had a changer, per post from TuEstUnePommeDeTerre@lemmy.blahaj.zone below. But I found photos of 33 RPM in-car players too, so there must have been a few of those.

Here is a 1961 model,

And I thought CD skipping was bad.

That’s a problem I very rarely had with car CD players

By the time that car CD players became a thing, that was pretty much a solved problem.

Built-in car CD players, yes. My Discman with the cassette adapter? Not so much

Cassette adapters were so clutch, in the early iPod days, it was better to have a car with a cassette player than a CD player

I still have my "Jogging" diskman that has 45s of anti-skip buffer. Yes, you can really go jogging with it.

Sorry, but I feel an irrepressible urge to point out that your nickname has a conjugation mistake. It should be "TuEsUnePommeDeTerre" (2nd person : "tu es", 3rd person "elle/il est")

Thanks, I hate how the records are stacked on top of each other.

I only have a few records I care about, but I'm still paranoid about dust and scratches.
