PS1, PS2 & PSP era.
I see, just before I got my first and only PS product, a PS3, cause money was too tight for a pc back then. Damn, I missed the golden years of PS!? :(
(EDIT: Oh no, that's not true, I have a used DS5 controller next to me lol)
I mean, I personally view the start of the PS3 era as part of that same golden period - but it was also the time when we began to see the beginnings of enshitification also:
- Day 1 patches
- Day 1 “on disc DLC”
- Microtransactions
- $10 “online pass” for 2nd hand games
The launch PS3 was probably the peak of Somy giving the customers what they wanted; full hardware backwards compatibility with PS1/PS2 titles, affordable Blu-Ray player, built-in and upgradable HDD, heap of standardised IO options.
It’s just been all downhill from there.
Looool, money was too tight, so the overpriced PS3 was the answer. Too funny. Thanks for the laugh.
PS3... But at the last few years era ("It only does everything" era)
They absolutely cooked with exclusives that people wanted
Tbf, PS2 sold itself at the time since it was both a dvd player AND a console for the price of one, lol
