This might be a dumb question

a month ago by ThorrJo to c/hammocks

Please forgive, my brain is poorly optimized for understanding physical objects and I haven't used a hammock for 2 years.

I am used to using hammocks with a whoopie sling. I don't really understand the ins & outs of it, it's rote memorization. Anyway I want to use the same type of hammock - nylon, gathered end - with one of those steel tube hammock stands you can put in the yard or on your porch. Do I need a different suspension? If not, where does all the extra rope at the ends of the whoopie sling go, just coiled at the support points of the hammock stand?

I keep a bundle of rope, as well as 2 hammock straps with my hammocks. Between the two i have been able to hang on any frame.

I have never used a whoope sling, mostly because we are sparse on trees in my part of New Mexico, so i almost always am using a stand of some sort.
